A Place To Hang Your Hat

When we start working with new clients, one of the first things we bring up is function. How are they going to live in their new spaces and how do they expect it to perform? One of the rooms clients expect the most durability from is the mudroom. This is where we like to step in and make sure that durability = beauty.

Today, check out our favorite design details to incorporate into a mudroom and check back next week to see how we bring it to life!

Protect those walls! Adding a wood treatment such as shiplap, board and batten or wallpaper is a great way to protect the sheet rock from kicking off boots and the every day wear and tear of life (specifically children!)

Think practical, but push the envelope. Your upholstery selection in the mudroom should be beautiful yet practical, and fortunately there are many fabrics that fit the bill. Whether indoor/outdoor or specially treated, you'll be able to find a high performer that is also worthy of a Pinterest moment.

Don’t ignore this space or down play it because it’s a “mudroom.” Think about all of the opportunity there is for a special design detail in this room. After all, this is the first room you and your family will walk into when entering your home-let it set the stage. Is there a window you can add a pretty window treatment to? Are there unique hooks you can add for functional storage? or sleek baskets for wayward shoes and mittens?

What have you been pinning lately? Make sure to follow us on Pinterest to see all this and more! {Don’t worry, we pin beauty tips, hairstyles, fashion, and delicious recipes too!}

Warmly,
